What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Leads development of world class people to meet the needs of Cyber & Information Security (CIS) specifically and wider BT Security as appropriate.
  • Manages coordination of recruitment within their strategic location and to identify career moves between teams to maximise the opportunities to develop our people across the range of functions BT provides.
  • Mentors and coaches on an individual needs basis to ensure development is tailored to achieve maximum growth potential.
  • Develops cross-skilling capabilities based upon robust skills matrices to develop  career pathways framework for Consultancy
  • Ensures all escalations are directed to the appropriate engagement lead to ensure they are dealt with in a timely fashion.
  • Prepares and participates in the performance management activity for the colleagues in their team and ensures that objectives are a fair mix of functional objectives and line objectives.
  • Locally leads security skills development activities with schools, universities, wider industry and government
  • Monitors, identifies and actions opportunities to flex resourcing across the department to ensure the proactive management of business and security needs.
  • Further ensures that resourcing is matched to Engagement function requirements and forecasts the future resourcing needs of consultancy.
  • Develops and reports on SLA/OKR/KPI measures for team to help drive and identify opportunities for improvement in service.
  • May lead on specific people initiatives on behalf of the TSD or wider CIS.

 

Skills required for the job

  • Strong People management background with experience in running a large efficient matrix managed team.
  • Demonstrates own initiative to resolve problems and issues as and when they occur, and uses appropriate thought leadership to guide teams to solve their own problems.
  • Typically qualified to degree level, or equivalent professional experience in STEM or business related degree.
  • Inspiring leader and communicator with a proven track record of building high performing, well-motivated teams and capabilities.
  • Highly effective inter-personal and stakeholder management skills. Able to communicate up to senior levels within BT and equivalent externally
  • Highly capable coach and mentor. Challenges and supports the team to be accountable and perform at their best.
  • Understands and empathises the agendas & needs of others, alongside the needs of the business. Breaks down silos, and works brilliantly with partners both within and outside of the organisation to deliver business results.
