The Software Engineering Manager coordinates the execution of the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.

What you’ll be doing

As an engineering team lead, you are required to actively participate in Software Engineering technical work and undertake technical assessment of work packages, agreeing time, cost and quality. 

Skills and Roles:

•    Knowledge on Telco products.
•    Working experience in Agile framework.
•    Core Java, SOA based Web Services, RESTful Web Services, Spring, XSD, XML and WSDL, DB, Microservices, GIT, Maven, Jenkins.
•    Understanding of AWS services/Kafka and MongoDB.
•    Experience in supporting and/or implementing complex integration projects.
•    In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
•    Undertake technical assessment of work packages, agreeing time, cost and quality.
•    Resolve technical issues raised by team and plan, design and deliver software. Work collaboratively with the team and be an active participant by providing technical input to gaining or defining new work.
•    Understanding TMF compliant API’s.
•    Drive operational efficiency and excellence through introducing changes through CI.
•    Reviewing data, solving complex problems, and creating data solutions
•    Inputting, understanding, and challenging engineering conclusions, and empowering your squad to be autonomous.
•    Collaborating with other engineering leaders to contribute to company-wide engineering best practices and standards.
•    Providing technical knowledge to consult on significant component(s) of a solution, as well as taking responsibility for the software deliverables.
•    Supporting and coaching a team of high performing software engineers and driving continuous improvement across your squad.
•    Resolving Test & production issues to deliver service.
•    Ensuring quality of required standards through standard frameworks and guidelines and participate in the work as a technical practitioner.
•    Develops tangible and ongoing standardisation, simplification, and efficiency of engineering processes, reviewing and revising continuous improvement opportunities.
•    Assures a high quality and comprehensive data flow and manage a team that provides a consumption layer where the business has access to all the data it needs.
•    Ensures all data is compliant.
•    Ensures that all data acquired is fully described/understood and communicated using appropriate tools.
