Voice Network Solution Design Specialist

About this role

The purpose of this role is to build domain voice application solution designs and/or application architecture strategies to integrate all aspects of the solution (network, system, process, and people) to ensure it works together. This role provides the technical direction for a voice application domain area and sets the review processes for this area.

Responsible for the application strategy and/or the roadmaps (programme document to describe what will be delivered over the year in releases). This role is responsible for integrating and adapting multiple sub-component designs, in response to business changes, ensuring conformance to the application architecture and security compliance.

This role will be responsible for stakeholder management of the MFU (Directors, Senior Product Manager) or CIO leads, service teams and IT components for their domain to ensure that the requirements are met and are fit for purpose.

What you'll be doing

•Accountable for driving the design and architecture of voice network applications supporting the commercial products under voice&collaboration in BT’s portfolio.
•Through understanding of micro services architecture, order orchestration and application programming techniques.
•Accountable for new developments, investigations on the in-life issues and review of the developed code by cross functional dev teams.
•Accountable for driving consistency in application design framework, ensuring security compliance and architectural compliance for application.
•Able to understand product requirements and translate them into technical requirements onto the application stack.
•Understand various types of network integration frameworks with UCaaS platforms such as Broadsoft, VAS platforms such as VMAS, Unisys, Tollring other 3rd party platforms.
•Providing estimates for high level requirements including all of the sub-components that make up the application including the integrations to other components/ network elements.
•Familiar with programming languages like JAVA, Python, .NET and Database frameworks like MongoDB, MySqL etc.
•Coaching and mentoring development & test leads.
•Challenging requirements as necessary to align to BT’s wider architecture guidelines and applying best practices for development.
•Provide analytical and innovative input to projects/operational issues, as well as support negotiations.

Cost
• Driving efficiency and cost reduction through defining Brilliant and Simple requirements to the supplier and other BT systems
Quality
• Ensuring rigorous, scalable and highly available solutions to underpin the voice network application to support VoIP services. 
Delivery
• Deliver component designs in timely fashion in time for sprint timescales.

•Understanding of programming languages – JAVA, Python, C++

Experience:-
 10 years + experience of complex application design for a telco - MANDATORY
Thorough knowledge of network application Architecture – MANDATORY
Thorough knowledge of micro services architecture - MANDATORY
 Excellent communication skils both verbal and written – MANDATORY
 Thorough understanding of different SDLC models – MANDATORY
Proven record of delivering  projects to time, cost, quality requirements – MANDATORY
Agile practitioner– Optional
TOGAF/ AWS Certification - Optional
