The Senior Manager, Performance plays a crucial role in shaping the Performance Strategy across BT, designing and owning the Performance Management portfolio.
Advises and supports the People & Culture (P&C) Director, Talent, Performance & Culture in setting the Performance Management strategy for interfacing with strategy, reward, and other touchpoints and stakeholders to ensure consistency, driving BT performance, inclusion, and effectiveness.
Defines the principles, frameworks, approaches and programs that will deliver the Performance Management strategy of BT to enhance productivity and enable a performance culture.
What you’ll be doing
- Advises and supports the People & Culture (P&C) Director, Talent, Performance & Culture in setting the Performance Management strategy for interfacing with strategy, reward, and other touchpoints and stakeholders to ensure consistency, driving BT performance, inclusion, and effectiveness.
- Defines the principles, frameworks, approaches and programs that will deliver the Performance Management strategy of BT to enhance productivity and enable a performance culture.
- Engages and partners with senior business stakeholder, including SLT and ExCo level, to gather requirements and to drive effective delivery and continuous improvement of performance management.
- Defines and clearly articulates business case for the approach and frameworks that deliver meaningful value to BT and is anchored in the business strategy
- Owns the Performance portfolio, ensuring coherence and consistency of products within their portfolio and the broader P&C function, alignment with the BTs goals, and overall quality assurance.
- Drives the design, development, management and ongoing maintenance Performance Management products and programs within the organization, owning product definition through to development and deployment, leading a delivery squad of specialists and/or professionals throughout the product lifecycle.
- Is responsible for the delivery team vision, defining and prioritising requirements in squad’s backlog, backlog management and day-to-day priorities, and approving items as completed. Reviews and accept completed work, ensuring it meets defined criteria and quality standards and is compliant with the definition of done for BT P&C.
- Ensures product owners and squad team members are allocated strategically and in line with the portfolio prioritisation for each quarter, ensuring value flow from existing products.
- Measures, monitors and analyses the outcomes and impact of all performance management BAU and initiatives and programmes, fostering data-driven decision making.
- Keeps up to date with state of the art approaches to Performance Management, benchmarking against external best practice and identifying and introducing improvements and new ways of working to maximise effectiveness and return on investment.
- Recommends sourcing strategy if relevant and works collaboratively with our managed service to shape our supplier portfolio and catalogue, maximising value through simplification.
- Works with relevant stakeholder in the CoE’s and broader P&C community, to define the BT wide assessment methodology for hiring and talent identification to drive strategic capability outcomes.

- Manages projects by dividing tasks into short phases of work (known as sprints) and frequently reassess and adapt plans
- Handles a project or portfolio of projects as they progress through the typical stages of the project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution and closure
