Why this job matters

As a Major Accounts Manager, you will manage a portfolio of 4-5 strategic accounts within the retail and business services vertical, each representing minimum annual revenue of £5 million. You will lead complex, transformation-focused sales cycles with large, well-known enterprises, orchestrating internal teams including solutions consultants and technical specialists to deliver comprehensive technology solutions. 

 

Joining a highly experienced and collaborative sales team within BT's retail and business services vertical, our team combines deep expertise with a strong mentoring culture. We actively support each other's development and work closely with specialists across the organisation who specifically request to work with us. 

 

Your role will involve strategic account planning, customer engagement mapping, and driving revenue growth while building long-term client partnerships in a highly active and dynamic market. Breaking into and growing an account can create strong development opportunities; the nature of a vertical market means this is a role in which you can really build a career.

What you’ll be doing

•    Develop and execute strategic account plans for a portfolio of 4-5 major accounts with minimum £5 million annual revenue, identifying growth opportunities and market positioning.
•    Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, managing relationships across diverse personas and departments within enterprise-level customers.
•    Orchestrate internal and external resources, including solutions consultants, finance teams, and technical design specialists, to deliver comprehensive technology solutions.
•    Drive transformation selling initiatives across BT's full portfolio of technology solutions, with particular focus on retail and business services sector opportunities.
•    Manage the full sales lifecycle from account planning and engagement through to deal closure, ensuring alignment across all internal stakeholders on financial, technical, and commercial requirements.
•    Ensure consistent achievement of account revenue targets and P&L accountability for assigned territory.

Experience Required

•    Experienced in field sales, selling technology solutions in a business-to-business environment.
•    Demonstrable expertise in strategic account planning, engagement mapping, and complex sales cycle management.
•    Commercial acumen with proven ability to successfully close multiple large deals with major enterprise customers.
•    Understanding of technology and how it impacts business transformation, though a technical background is not required.
•    Able to manage and influence multiple internal/external stakeholders across different organisational levels.
•    Track record of success in fast-paced, dynamic environments managing multiple high-value accounts simultaneously.
