This role will be focused on network-related deliveries for both the Network Cloud platform and feature requests from our tenants. This role will help deliver the programme of works that support the growth of the Network Cloud platform, a private cloud that is being deployed into our exchanges specifically to host NFV and network apps. It’s critically important and is one of BT’s future strategic platforms. BT’s goal is to have all the services we offer (where appropriate) running on this platform, including BT’s 5G core mobile network and ESN services. It is therefore vital that Network Cloud is built using the best technology and implemented using industry best practices. 


The role will be responsible for the full end to end deliveries of complex cloud-based common services and border functions within a large-scale telco cloud platform. The deliveries could include anything from infrastructure through to specialist functions such as back-up, PKI and DNS. You will work closely with other engineering verticals, service operations and the release manager to ensure projects are delivered and deployed in conjunction with Network Cloud standards and in line with the release schedule where necessary. You will be responsible for managing matrix teams of external vendors and internal teams across Network Services required to make the delivery a success.

 

This role is hybrid (3 days in office) & based in BT's Manchester Office

What you’ll be doing

  • Implements workstreams in full cycle delivery of commercial outcomes for technology developments and solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities to resolve risks and issues relating to delivery and any impacts on related components or teams.
  • Coordinates with a range of internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, update on progress and achieve benefits.
  • Coordinates with multiple complex medium sized technical deliveries or a single large technical delivery.
  • Monitors all actions and activities, from scope to delivery, to ensure adherence to technical roadmap and time and budget constraints.
  • Implements ways to improve team, process and service performance and suggest and implement changes to how the team operates.
  • Contributes to the development of innovative approaches and tools aimed at furthering BT Group's capabilities.
  • Implements the resolution of technical delivery problems and ensuring all parties involved are engaged in resolutions.
  • Mentors and coordinates a diverse team to deliver medium-sized, technical projects within a specific domain which enable benefits for customers across a portfolio of projects.
  • Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Technical Delivery.

Experience Required for the Role

  • Proven experience delivering complex technical platforms or shared services in large-scale environments
  • Strong background in cloud platforms (private on-prem preference) 
  • Experience working in telco, networked or regulated environments 
  • Deep understanding of non-functional requirements (resilience, availability, security and performance)
  • Excellent delivery management skills (planning, RAID, dependency management) 
  • Able to operate confidently with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience delivering boarder functions (network security, ingress/egress, connectivity etc) and common services such as PKI, DNS and back-up
