Why this job matters
The purpose of this role is to supports the delivery of engineering activities that contributes client technical requirements, deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and the enterprise to achieve their operational and business goals.
As a Network Engineering Professional, you will be accountable for delivering comprehensive IP/VPN network designs for Business Connectivity platforms and/or customer-specific solutions, with a strong focus on test planning, execution, and validation to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
Accountability:
- Design and Testing of new features into Business Connectivity platforms.
- Point of contact for technical expertise technical leads within the team.
- Mentor and share knowledge with others and be a user of design tools.
- Design and develop architecture patterns and testing methodologies for BT and/or its customers
- Support on resolving customer impacting issues regarding the overall network platform and/or customer solution.
- Solve problems that tend to arise from the interaction of single components and usually are complex and unknown related to the overall IP/VPN platform and/or customer solution and involve vendor interworking issues.
- Raise and resolve implementation issues with suppliers and other designers.
- Resolve in-life issues to overall network platform and/or customer solution, as appropriate.
- Work within a matrix team as appropriate within Business Connectivity.
- Support transformation; specifically in terms of automation
Leadership Accountabilities:

Skills:
- Good working knowledge of IP/VPN technologies and vendors (Cisco/Juniper)
- Some insight into emerging network/software technologies.
- Experience developing network designs and testing.
- Some exposure to software engineering; specifically in solving network issues / activities.
- Experience in resolution of customer impacting network issues.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and testing network solutions within a service provider environment
- Understanding of basic principle of CI/CD and tools such as Gitlab and put into practice.
- Working knowledge in Python, Bash, or Ansible for test automation.
- Working knowledge of firewalls, TSA compliance, and network security best practices.
- Working knowledge of automation test frameworks such as Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and/or Robot Framework is desirable.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as IXIA IxNetwork, Spirent test Centre
Experience:
- Delivery of IP network design and executing comprehensive testing strategies
- Good demonstratable collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn / coach others within to change and develop an innovative, challenging, and supportive team culture.
- Experience with automated testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA or equivalent expertise.
- Desired qualifications include PCEP and ISTQB.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience.
- PCEP - Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer
- ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
