Within the Radio and Satellite communications platform, our role is to support the availability and security of the network 24/7/365 combining operational and engineering resources to meet the customer demand. 

In your role as a designer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions. You will collaborate with specialist designers and work alongside key stakeholders and partners to determine how we can best meet our customers’ needs. Your responsibilities include developing solutions, testing solutions, offering specialist advice, and supporting our wider teams to deliver for our customers.

What you’ll be doing

•    Supports the delivery of routine activities and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
•    Oversees platform health and performance, coordinating infrastructure capacity and build requirements to meet evolving service demands.
•    Develops and maintains forecasting models using complex datasets to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
•    Identifies opportunities to optimise network scaling and infrastructure deployment, balancing performance, cost, and commercial impact.
•    Applies data science and automation tools to analyse trends, monitor thresholds, and inform platform strategy.
•    Manages the lifecycle of network platforms, including roadmap coordination, delivery planning, and in-life service optimisation.
•    Leads stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external partners, chairing forums and managing escalations to ensure alignment and delivery.
•    Supports the implementation of new technologies and systems, contributing to platform upgrades, service enhancements, and regulatory compliance.
•    Responds to customer support requests and operational incidents, ensuring timely resolution and continuous service improvement.
•    Maintains compliance with safety, quality, and audit standards, contributing to secure and reliable infrastructure operations.
•    Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing processes, tools, and methodologies to drive operational efficiency and platform evolution.

Skills and Experience

•    Support the decision on the design and/or design testing scope of a network feature and/or component for known and unknown network design activities and estimating their own time to deliver
•    Working autonomously and typically without supervision of more senior designers (although will consult with them) and providing technical guidance to more junior designers
•    Develop and agree design scope for known network design activities.
•    Develop and recommend design scope for more complex and/or new network design activities. 
•    Lead Projects or Project elements as part of an overall programme of works.     
•    Set up network models for design testing. 
•    Produce standardised designs in a range of areas including core and customer specific network design.                                                                                              
•    Provide design support and information down streaming on their feature and/or component design to more senior network designers or testing team, systems team.                                   
•    Collaborate with more senior network engineers to resolve implementation issues, with suppliers and other designers.
•    Provide technical guidance to more junior network designers. 
•    Document and deliver training and coaching of less experienced team members.
•    Identify opportunities to follow design best practice.
•    Improvement focus, questioning and challenging the way things are done and work with others to make improvements. Building understanding of the end-to-end processes to which your own role and the wider team contribute.
•    Support future systems build, working across teams to identify links between structure, people, process and technology to make sure we succeed. You know when to look at the big picture and gather new perspectives.
•    A growth mindset and willingness to learn new technologies and skills to support the development of new technical solutions and products for our customers.
Experience you would be expected to have
Mandatory:
•    Experience of RF design 
•    Cross team collaboration

Nice to have:
•    Successful delivery of a range of small to large programmes 
•    Knowledge of BTs Network
•    Qualification or experience in Continuous improvement Methodologies
•    Working with wider team in managing conflicts in delivering solutions in a timely manner at optimum cost
•    Working with internal and external partners to deliver to quality and on time expectation.
•    Experience and proficient in Microsoft office packages
•    Implemented change initiatives, ability to adapt quickly and deliver change effectively.  
•    Systems experience, including JIRA & Ariba.
