Senior Procurement Manager - Engineering Materials

Why this role matters
The Senior Manager is responsible for driving and overseeing the procurement strategy, processes and activities for BT’s Engineering Materials category (which is focused upon the primarily passive products needed do build, test, and maintain the fibre network).
In this role, you will lead a team to deliver the category specific strategic sourcing and stakeholder management activities, as well as representing the category within the wider Networks and BT strategies. You will also play a key role in the development of BT Sourced employee culture and engagement.
What you'll be doing
Strategic
- Proactively drive category strategy, identify and realise opportunities to improve product standards and Total Cost of Ownership, and mitigate relevant risks to the business
- Recognised as an expert in BT and by our suppliers and industry peers, who can influence BT Group’s strategic sourcing agenda
Operational
- Lead category teams with a clear vision, driving delivery of the category strategy and activities, achieving key metrics such as savings, ESG and risk management
- Oversight to ensure procurement processes and activities are compliant and adhered to across teams
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide leadership to key transformation programmes
People
- Manage and develop the capability of the team
- Drive performance of the category team
- Identify future talents to enhance knowledge and talent pool
The skills you'll need
- Extensive experience as a leader within a Procurement function
- Strong business expertise in relevant category, particularly around supplier capabilities, commercial models, product lifecycles and partner programmes
- Demonstrates a track record of decision-making capability and delivery against key metrics
- Strong relationship management skills & ability to influence decision making with senior stakeholders within a matrixed environment
- Ability to manage complex, strategic and commercial requirements between BT and Suppliers, deliver projects and results on time and in full
- Experience in managing complex supply tenders and contracting.
- Ability to develop sourcing plans that address the need to mitigate/manage supply chain risks.
