This role is based at our Dublin office following a hybrid working pattern of three days a week in office and two days a week working form home.

The Senior Data Scientist leads the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytical and AI solutions across BT Sourced. The role turns complex data into meaningful insights, scalable models, and decision-support tools that improve efficiency and business performance. It involves close collaboration with Data Engineering, Procurement, Digital, and Technology teams to ensure solutions are robust, value‑driven, and aligned with organisational goals. 

 

The ideal candidate has strong expertise in machine learning, generative AI, experimentation, and production‑grade model deployment. They bring solid end‑to‑end delivery experience—from problem framing to production rollout—along with communication, and stakeholder management skills to drive adoption of AI solutions and foster a culture of innovation. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Transform business opportunities into actionable analytical products that drive strategic decisions. 
  • Design innovative analytical solutions and develop robust algorithms to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. 
  • Lead endtoend delivery of ML/LLM products from scoping to production rollout. 
  • Oversee the delivery of production analytical solutions throughout various stages of the development lifecycle, adhering to industry best practices. 
  • Ability to lead small DS/ML teams in collaboration with BT Group and drive endtoend delivery 
  • Experience collaborating with Data Engineering teams and building scalable pipelines in selected cloud environment. 
  • Create and maintain experimental notebooks, production pipelines, and dashboards tailored to project needs and assigned tasks. 
  • Define and document solution requirements in compliance with internal governance standards. 
  • Drive the DS roadmap, experimentation culture, and standards for model development, documentation, reproducibility, and code quality. 

You'll have the following skills and experience

  • Experience in a Data Science role with a proven track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions in a business context with Master’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent skills gained through industry experience. 
  • Strong expertise in machine learning frameworks and the development and deployment of end-to-end ML pipelines & Gen AI models.
  • Experience building & deploying ML models in production using tools like Airflow, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Databricks or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with any major cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) including ML/AI services or hybrid environments. GCP is a good advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM fine‑tuning, RAG systems, multi‑agent workflows.
  • Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vector DBs (Pinecone, etc.).
  • Exposure to basic frontend frameworks (e.g., Next.js) is a bonus but not required.
  •  Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into measurable analytical frameworks with Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
