Why this job matters

As our 3rd Line IT Engineering Specialist, you'll work to enable and ensure the support and delivery of end user support area as part of the overall BT Business Technical Services remit. This remit includes 3rd line support to underpin the shared services support model, consultancy to internal and external customers, design assurance and training & knowledge sharing with upstream support teams.

 

The role requires an innovative, engaging, driven individual who has a proven record of achievement and experience in collaborating across teams of highly skilled technical experts.

What we would like to see on your CV

1. Ideally two or more of the following skillsets at an advanced level: Storage management – SANs, Datastores, servers (Firmware / Hardware), server operating system management (Windows, Linux, Unix), Virtualisation, Cloud technology (Azure, AWS), VMWare / HyperV / Citrix Server/ VA’s, automation, public and private cloud, backup, replication and recovery technologies
2. Excellent experience of technically supporting live operations in a managed services arena
3. In depth knowledge of managed customer solutions
4. Engagement with 3rd party vendors in advanced troubleshooting  and problem solving
5. In depth understanding of  emerging technologies technologies across the managed services portfolio

What you’ll be doing

1. Delivering successful technical resolutions to complex customer issues escalated by second line
2. Problem solving and application of technical knowledge to unknown issues
3. Planning of complex change with first time delivery to ensure sustained service across wide ranges of products and solutions 
4. Participating and leading in technical knowledge cascades across BT Business using learning infrastructure
5. Service management and design support on existing and new contracts

Flexible Working
This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
