Applied Research (AR) is a large multi-disciplined ‘professional services’ engineering practice. The team is organised in key customer focused capabilities which each have sub-capability areas comprising single or multiple engineering delivery projects.

The purpose of this role is to be technically proficient in an Applied Research profession and to deliver work packages on a delivery project 

Our customers depend on us to bring technical insight and industry best practices to help them progress their mission. You will bring new technologies and suggest improvements to current working practices.   

 

What your responsiblities will be: 

  • You’ll be working on a high speed, packet processing platform.

  • You’ll work as part of a team with a senior developer to create bespoke solutions to customer problems.  

  • Understand customer problems and work on technical solutions 

  • Take ownership of planning, developing and delivering an area of the project 

  • Develop high quality, performant code 

  • Use automated test tools for unit, integration and system tests 

  • Share knowledge both within the team and with our Special Interest Groups 

 

What you’ll bring to the role:  

Alongside one of the following skillset’s you will have the opportunity to upskill and broaden your skill capabilities:  

  • C# / .NET

  • MySQL

  • Web services

  • Linux

  • C++

  • Source code management in Git

  • Agile development

 

 

Additional: 

  • Security Clearance: You will be required to undergo DV level of National Security Vetting.

  • Due to the sensitive nature of this role you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.
