As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in BT's strategy to grow its market share with corporate customers in the private sector. You will be responsible for growing relationships and creating new business opportunities across the finance and banking sector. You will focus on developing pipeline within a portfolio of accounts, building credibility with C-suite stakeholders, and positioning relevant BT solutions to support customer needs. Your efforts will directly contribute to BT's business growth and success.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and grow a pipeline of opportunities across a portfolio of finance and banking accounts, using market intelligence, stakeholder mapping, and structured frameworks.
- Develop and maintain executive-level relationships to re-establish and strengthen BT’s presence with customers.
- Use market analysis and account insights to identify new acquisition opportunities and understand key business drivers, influencers, and competitive landscape.
- Lead value-based conversations across key solution areas including connectivity, mobility, security, and IP.
- Work closely with Account Managers and internal teams to shape opportunities, align pipeline with commercial goals, and support progression from early engagement through to deal development.
- Act as an ambassador internally and externally, demonstrating best-in-class sales behaviour and delivering excellent customer experiences.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Market segmentation & Intelligence, to guide pipeline development and targeting
- Customer relationship skills to identify and develop new acquisition opportunities, and a track record of winning major acquisition business with corporate customers.
- Stakeholder mapping, focus on identifying new contacts, influencers and decision makers
- Expertise in value-based and consultative selling
- Ability to recommend and shape a robust pipeline based on market intelligence, segmentation, and whitespace analysis
- Has experience in gaining access and building new relationships at executive level
- Navigates ambiguous, early-stage opportunities
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Commercial acumen, required to qualify opportunities
- Capable of assessing cost-of-sale, win probability, and required resources to advise go/no-go decisions
- Comfortable navigating long-cycle, high-value sales processes.
- Anticipates commercial hurdles and works proactively with account and commercial teams to address them.
- Experience in sales or business development preferably from telco/ICT or technology sales; experience across verticals is valuable
