The role holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing and handing over to service security solutions based on BT’s security portfolio technologies for global customers.
What you'll be doing
Strategic nature of the role:

Create value through technology for security design across complex multiple platforms and/or technology areas.

Deliver work that is typically bespoke, complex, high impact and high value.

Provide technical expertise and consultancy on both technical issues and approach, to overall design, on a number of projects concurrently.

Provide industry leadership on cutting edge technology. Consulting and advising senior stakeholders, internally and in a multi-vendor environment, on high profile customer solutions.

Provide technical thought-leadership in areas of significant impact to business revenue or cost through large customer deals and/or platform integration.
Key responsibilities:
-
Prepare and deliver high quality (standard or custom) network designs (e.g. HLD, MLD, LLD) and/or customer solutions according to the project scope and schedule, within budget. Regularly maintain overall solution documents as required.

Define and agree the project scope, estimate the time, budget and resources required to support the deliverable.

Provide technical consultancy for large multinational customers and business partners.
-
Work together and technically coordinate or supervise a global team of network designers. May lead a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts to deliver network design solutions and provide technical guidance to a larger matrix team.

Be responsible for end-to-end technical solution.
-
Act as a technical ambassador for the company.

Responsible for establishing design best practice within a unit.

Develop proof of concept designs and technical configuration guidelines for security products.

Ensure the designs fulfil the customer's expectations and align with the current security principles.

Display excellent customer-facing skills, as working directly with external BT partners.

Complete the work of the implementation request on the planned start/end dates and per the specifications, configuring the devices and verifying normal operation.

Manage multiple projects and work with various BT teams to deliver the tasks on time and with minimal impact to the customer’s business.

Maintain a very good understanding of key security products (e.g. Next Generation Firewalls, Cloud Proxy solutions) and become a Subject Matter Expert in one or two technologies/vendor solutions.

Occasionally required to work flexibly as out of hours working will be required for transition and transformation change windows.

Technical skills:

Excellent knowledge of key security technologies and products with hands-on experience and technical knowledge for one or more of the following:

Security Gateways (Cisco Firepower, ASA, Check Point, Palo Alto plus appropriate Managers)

Cloud Security Proxies (Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma)
-
Other Security Solutions (IDS/IPS, VPN, Remote Access solutions)
-

Experience deploying network and security services for large organizations.
-
Skills with diagnostic tools including ability to interpret and analyse output.

Knowledge of IP networking and security-related technologies.
-
Security-related certifications (Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Check Point CCSE/CCSM) is an advantage.

Any knowledge of Python, Kubernetes, Ansible, automation and RESTful APIs is an advantage.
Language skills:

Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
