The Senior Manager Enterprise Architecture is responsible for managing a team of (EAs) Enterprise Architects. An Enterprise Architect is the most Senior Technical Leadership role aligned to one or a more major accounts. The team is a global team driven by proximity to key customer stakeholders.
The key purpose of the EA role is to enhance the customer experience and drive profitable growth. The EA is the customers Trusted Advisor for technology and design and as such an integral part of customer’s matrix technical leadership team. EAs create value through the exploitation of technology, tooling and service across complex multiple platforms and/or technology areas.
The Senior Manager is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the EA function, driving best practice based on industry trends, creating and maintaining a collaborative and innovative environment for the EA community, so that they are in the best position to deliver value and technical leadership for BT’s key customers.
The Senior Manager is also responsible for operationally managing the team, ensuring the right resources are aligned to the priority customers and the team is contributing to BT International financial targets and other key metrics, such as Customer Experience.
The Senior Manager is a member of the BT International Customer Solutions Leadership team and is contributing to the Design organisation strategy and operation.
Specific tasks are:
• Managing the Enterprise Architecture team, align resource to key accounts and set personal goals aligned with the account targets
• Create a learning and collaborative culture where people can excel and deliver value
• Responsible for team budget
• Drive Continuous Improvement in the team and across the Design organisation
• Provide leadership of major customer jeopardy and senior management escalation
• Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and agree priorities and goals
• Contribute to the BT International Design strategy and goals.
Know your goals
• Agree specific goals with the Head of Customer Solution (CS) and senior stakeholders in the Market Unit.
Goals will be a mix of financial targets (revenue generation, order intake), operational targets (NPS, on time
delivery) and people related targets.
• Align the team to the priority accounts in order to deliver these targets.
• Direct the team to collaborate, learn and improve
• Role model the Customer Solutions culture and ways of working
Drive your team
• Challenge BT International people to deliver outcomes effectively. Provide feedback where things have gone
well or need improving
• Ensure CS delivers the right resource, in the right place, at the right cost, doing the right things
• Challenge all Operations and other teams to deliver their functional responsibilities
• Mentor and coach the team to perform at their best
Know you’re in good shape (get the basics right)
• Ensure all people in the team have goals and a development plan and review their performance on a
quarterly basis.
• Ensure the team budget Is managed and the cost is recovered
• Ensure appropriate design governance and quality controls are in place
• Run quarterly reviews with Head of CS and market unit stakeholders
Know your customer
• Understand Market Unit priorities and targets and align goals to it
• Understand CS priorities and targets and align goals to it.
• Understand technology and market trends in the Verticals BT International Customers operate in.
Lead from the front
• Provide strategic direction
• Provide leadership in case of major customer escalations

• Decide on the strategy for the Enterprise Architecture team
• Decide on account allocation for the Enterprise Architects
• Decide on key development and skills for the team

Measure of success
• Each major account has an agreed technology roadmap
• A pipeline of qualified opportunities on the accounts supported
• Account financial targets are met through successful wins, efficient and in time delivery and in life support
• Net Promoter Score for relevant customer(s)
• Evidence of successful transformation measures – e.g. step change in processes, innovative designs based on, or leading to, enhanced best-practice, cost reduction
• Engaged people
• Reduction in incidents and escalations
• Issues managed with LT and resolutions and improvement driven down
