The role holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and handing over to service security solutions based on BT’s security portfolio technologies for global customers have been designed, built and deployed with the appropriate level of security. To make this happen, the job holder has the authority to engage other people within the unit or via matrix management as appropriate and can be the technical lead design role for the specific project.
This position provides the opportunity to rapidly upskill in security technologies through formal and informal learning, shadowing, and mentoring. This requires the ability to absorb knowledge, pass exams, and then apply it to customer deployments within a supportive environment. It requires analytical thinking, logic and the ability to troubleshoot, sometimes under time pressure.
SC cleared or able to maintain clearance and ability to travel to Derby or Bristol 2 to 3 days a week and work
What you’ll do:
• The Security Engineer is responsible for designing and/or implementing security solutions in line with defined standards and processes within agreed timeframes and may also be asked to analyse and scope a migration plan based on client requirements.
• Maintain a very good understanding of key Security products (e.g. Next Generation Firewalls, Proxy solutions) and become a Subject Matter Expert in at least two technologies / vendor solutions.
• Work within a virtual team and typically expect to be working on more than one project, including attending on-site secure locations.
• Maintain a reputation for quality and delivery of their expertise to the business.
• Provide technical assistance when required for solution implementation and fault diagnostics.
• Keep relevant certifications up to date, attending BT product and technology seminars and briefings
You’ll definitely have:
• Expertise with F5 SME: F5_ LTM F5 DNS F5_AFM F5_APM F5_ASM_WAF
• Security/LAN/WAN experience up to CCNP Level and have a Practical working knowledge of security technologies with a track record of designing and deploying network security solutions.
• Expertise with Remote access VPN, Proxies, Email Security, Firewalls, Cisco: ASA, ISE, Firepower, WSA, ESA. Juniper (Pulse Secure), Checkpoint.
• Implementation of security designs and early life support of projects
• Excellent written and presentation skills to be able to document and articulate designs and solutions to stakeholders, including good customer relationship skills, able to build and maintain relationships with the most senior levels, both externally and internally

• Keep relevant certifications up to date, attending BT product and technology seminars and briefings.
• Maintain an excellent knowledge of key security technologies and product, including participating in professional communities and knowledge sharing to colleagues and internal teams.
• Have knowledge, understanding of Security solutions and delivered multiple security projects.
• Possess recognised formal qualifications in F5 and firewall technologies.
