Why this job matters

 

As a Senior Programme Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery and execution of strategic and long‑term projects across our commercial channels. You will oversee a portfolio of complex transformation initiatives, shaping how we evolve our operating models, structures and supporting systems, and ensuring they are successfully implemented.

 

You will lead a team of project managers and business architects to both define and deliver these programmes. This includes driving discovery to understand current-state operations, designing future-state solutions within agreed guardrails, and managing the end‑to‑end delivery of programmes that have significant commercial impact. You'll work closely with the project managers and business architects in your team, as well as stakeholders across sales, operations and strategy, to shape transformation roadmaps and drive complex programmes through to successful delivery.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-year strategic change programmes from discovery through implementation and benefits realisation, applying learning from trials to in-life operations.
  • Define and own programme scope, governance, plans and KPIs, translating strategic objectives into clear workstreams, milestones and success measures.
  • Align with stakeholders across the business and wider BT (up to MD and Director level), building trusted relationships and inspiring brilliant outcomes.
  • Partner with business architects and project managers to convert high-level goals into detailed designs, roadmaps and executable plans, identifying enablers, risks and roadblocks.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing programme team, role-modelling confident decision-making, solving delivery issues at peer level and escalating to senior leadership where required.
  • Track performance against KPIs, proactively identify opportunities to improve operations, and recommend process, systems and operating model improvements to senior stakeholders for implementation.

What we woud like to see on your CV

 

  • Proven experience in leading large, strategic change or transformation programmes.
  • Strong leadership and programme/project management skills, with the ability to drive delivery through others.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple long-term strategic initiatives and tactical work.
