Why this job matters
As a Strategy & Planning Manager in BT Wholesale, you’ll play a key part in helping us make good decisions and deliver on our plans. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, support major planning cycles, and help analyse trends that influence our strategy.
The Wholesale Sales function partners with and delivers capability to our biggest customers (across the UK and beyond), who in turn deliver communication services to their customers. In Wholesale, we leverage BT’s assets, diversity and sales excellence to provide these customers with best in class, innovative technology that empowers their customers’ future.
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with data, spotting what matters, and sharing insights in a clear and engaging way. Importantly, you have a talent for story-telling with data, which will help you build the case for change within the business as you draw on data and analytical techniques. You’ll also work with teams across the business — Product, Digital, Customer Experience and more — to make sure everyone is aligned and moving in the same direction. You take the complex and make it simple, with the confidence to present your ideas with senior leaders.
A strong understanding of key enablers of commercial and operational planning will help you to make key contributions to our Wholesale strategy including assisting with strategic asks from the Business Leadership Team, This means you'll be a highly visible and trusted advisor to senior stakeholders - including the Managing Director of Wholesale, performing commercial deep dives for monthly unit reviews, challenging where appropriate and bringing to light new approaches & ways of thinking.
What you’ll be doing
- Bringing together the monthly Business Unit Review and Medium-Term Plan for Wholesale
- Sharing recommendations with senior leaders, including the Wholesale MD
- Tracking key actions and aligning with senior stakeholders
- Reporting on our key strategic KPIs
- Working closely with customer, product and trading teams to join up plans
- Helping shape responses to strategic questions, competitor activity and market changes
- Digging into data to recommend commercial interventions and support gap‑closure plans
Experience Required
- Understanding of commercial & financial performance and what drives results
- Working analytically with data and turning insights into clear stories
- You are familair & confident working with senior stakeholders, keeping them aligned with key actions, presenting data/insight and telling the story behind it
- Effective organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A strategic, curious mindset. You can identify enablers for successful delivery
- Effective communication and can simplify complex information
- You work well in virtual or cross‑functional teams
