Reporting to the Product Lead for Web & App, the Product Lead will oversee our key shared capability teams across App capability as well as our Design System. Customer and platform centric thinking is key for this role, as well as a solid understanding of app release roll-outs and hands-on experience coordinating and influencing larger projects in a multi-tribe organisation to ensure we have a holistic approach to building world-class experiences.


Our App Capability team helps to provide the core architecture of our app experience and acts as the central layer of governance when it comes to broader strategic app changes as well as our fortnightly release train.


As part of a Shared Capability function, as well as catering for the end customer, your end customer will also be other internal teams. As such, experience with platform centric thinking and Design Systems would be ideal.


What you'll be doing: 


  • Act as a central point of contact for the App overall
  • Be able to own and inform key decisions regarding overall quality of the experiences we ship, taking into account trade-offs and impacts to the customer and business
  • Coordinate cross-organisational journey squads for experience previews to ensure that we have a holistic approach to the experiences we deliver and that we’re placing the customer at the heart of everything we do
  • Build by influence, making compelling and clearly rationalised cases for experience improvements 
  • Participate in daily app standups, supporting the broader team on day-to-day emerging topics
  • Governance creation and implementation: create quality gates and processes that ensure quality is our primary focus
  • Work with engineers, designers and solution architects to identify solutions to new customer needs and business requirements 
  • Assist with on-going analysis of Performance optimisation across the App
  • Drive the identification and reporting of risks, as well as risk resolution and mitigation
  • Assist with super-charging adoption of our design system. You will ideally have experience with design system roll-outs
  • Mentor, coach, and manage a team to develop current and future team capabilities and ensure performance

Skills and experience you'll be expected to have:

  • Significant experience in product management
  • Direct experience as an app product manager (iOS and Android), ideally with some experience at a group / principal PM level
  • Demonstratable experience with app release roll-outs, triaging and release risk mitigation strategies (feature toggling, throttling) in a cross-discipline organisation with multiple teams  / tribes all contributing to a single experience
  • Process and quality driven mindset: have a proven track record of implementing processes that improve efficiency and overall quality governance
  • Holistic experience mindset: be able to showcase how you have gained visibility of experience changes outside your area of responsibility and intervened to improve customer journeys
  • Management experience of at least 2 direct reports 
  • Data-driven mindset: hands-on experience with analytics tooling, making data driven decisions and showcasing results
  • Excellent communicator: able to tailor your story-telling to different types of audiences
