Why this role matters
Our internal Networks unit is responsible for designing, building and running the networks and technology platforms that BT, and our customers, rely on. 
Across our fibre, TV, mobile, WiFi and core networks, BT is a connectivity powerhouse, leading the world in the adoption of converged, automated, programmable network technologies.

•    Every year, we file more than 100 new inventions to keep BT, our customers and the UK at the cutting edge. 
•    Thanks to our investments, we were able to satisfy peak demand in our core network of 22.7 Tb/s in 2020, a 30% increase over the same period in 2019. 
•    In the past year, average download speeds on our broadband network increased by more than 15% despite this huge increase in demand for bandwidth. 
•    In the UK, 96 % of people can now receive superfast broadband at more than 30Mbps. 
•    On mobile we’ve seen a 36% increase in data usage over the last 12 months, with highest recorded peak on 18th March – a throughput peak of 802Gb/s for Europa League football. 


Networks Align is key to simplifying engagement with Networks for all of our CFU and Digital stakeholders and implementing the principles of a single view of demand and cross-Network delivery accountability. You will have strong leadership and management skills, coupled with the overall ownership of the Demand & Delivery Framework, the processes and tools. You will lead on key business improvement activities, ensuring these are aligned across the whole of Networks.  You will understand the wider objectives of the portfolio, and have credibility within the business to continually improve delivery performance by creating, maintaining and sharing best practice.  


Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be working in our Networks function, owning and delivering project governance methodologies. You will drive for simplification to ensure governance and compliance, however removing barriers from deliveries, regardless of whether you deliver in an agile or waterfall approach. Challenging the current status quo to revolutionise how we can govern our portfolios in efficient and innovative ways in BT.

•    Own Networks Align Demand & Delivery Framework processes to reflect best practice on an ongoing basis and maintain alignment with Customer Facing Unit (CFU) processes as they evolve.
•    Own the Networks Portfolio Management Tools, ensuring these are fit for purpose and evolve as the business changes
•    Own and manage tooling requirements to underpin our processes.
•    Manage stakeholder engagement for our processes and tools, ensuring appropriate communications and training where applicable.
•    Establish best practice by continually improving our processes and tools using data analysis
•    Own the Network Align Improvement plan, ensuring these are prioritised and delivered on time
•    Support and mange the Network Align Steerco attended by Directors from across key Network units.
•    Manage the onboarding activity across Networks to ensure that all areas are adhering to our centralised ways of working
•    Manage internal and external audits to ensure we are compliant in all aspects of Portfolio management.

Skills required
•    Evidenced ability to drive senior management to make decisions
•    Working with large sets of data across multiple business areas to consolidate and manage changes of this data in a single source of truth
•    Working directly with stakeholders across multiple CFUs where ways of working differ however a uniform outcome is required
•    Ability to manage stakeholders who challenge process. Ensure they understand and deliver as expected
•    Adapt and continuously improve processes across the whole Networks Align Function
•    Create reporting and provide insights on demand to senior technology leaders to show training, communications and CI measures 
•    Understanding technical portfolio, programme and project delivery processes.
Soft Skills:
•    Communicate at appropriate levels, from small exec groups, to 300’s of PMs.
•    Using your experience and persuasion skills ensure correct business outcome is achieved 
•    Ability to take complex data and technical information, and present in a simple way to the business.
•    Personable, build great stakeholder relationships to become go to person.


•    Experienced in undertaking analysis on complex  Technology enabled change portfolios to identify process improvement opportunities.
•    Previous experience of owning and improving Demand management processes
•    Own frameworks, and evidence continuous improvement practices
•    Communications expert 
•    Worked in project, programme, portfolio management with a focus on financial management as well as delivery management
•    Managing a demand tool / mechanism
