The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager leads complex planning and reporting activities across the Group or Business Unit, ensuring financial integrity, governance, and insight. The role supports strategic decision-making, drives performance improvement, and enables transformation through accurate forecasting, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll be doing

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Financial control & management of Capex programmes (35%)
  • Reporting & management reporting across engineering & infrastructure units (25%)
  • Building and articulating the financial story behind the numbers (20%)
  • Medium‑term planning & forecasting to support strategic decision‑making (15%)
  • Collaborating across UK teams and an offshore team in India (5%)

This role does not have direct reports but is highly cross‑functional.

Skills and Experiences

  • Pragmatic, collaborative team player who holds others to account through a supportive yet challenging leadership style, while consistently delivering on their own commitments.
  • Recognised expert in their field, with the credibility and experience to engage confidently across multiple areas of the business.
  • Strong matrix‑management capability, able to coordinate and influence cross‑business teams to deliver complex, multi‑phase programmes.
  • Leader and coach, supporting the development of others both within their immediate team and across the wider organisation; provides guidance, operational direction, and specialist expertise.
  • Sponsors and steers FD‑led finance programmes, taking ownership for planning, facilitation, and successful delivery.
  • Champions best practice and leads the resolution of conflicting priorities, ensuring delivery of key organisation‑wide finance initiatives.
  • Sets agendas and identifies opportunities, driving continuous improvement and offering deep insight across their finance specialism.
  • Qualified Accountant (or actively working towards qualification) or equivalent.
