About the role -

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of Openreach’s network platforms? In this role you will join Openreach Technology NetOps who are responsible for evolving Openreach’s network platforms whilst keeping them available and secure.

 

This dynamic role supports governance and lifecycle management of our legacy broadband platforms. The role supports platform stability and operational compliance, coordinating activities across engineering, suppliers, and operational teams. This role maintains deep technical insight into the platform, drives reliability improvements, oversees critical lifecycle processes, and ensures that legacy vendor estates are managed consistently, safely, and proactively.

 

You'll have the following Responsibilities -

Platform Health & Operational Assurance

  • Conduct daily health checks in partnership with the ASG team.
  • Produce regular health reports detailing trends, risks, and recommended actions.

Change Management & Governance

  • Provide oversight and assurance for compaction, consolidation, and major reconfiguration programmes.
  • Ensure all changes align with ITIL standards, security policies, and platform SLAs.

Patching, Hardening & Resilience

  • Support patching oversight, including pre‑deployment validation, testing, and risk assessment.
  • Support the implementation of platform hardening, security updates, and configuration strengthening.
  • Support improvements in disaster recovery, including a full rewrite of DR methodologies and playbooks.

Capacity, Licensing & Infrastructure

  • Monitor licences, capacity utilisation, certificates, thresholds, and growth patterns.

Documentation, Knowledge & Standards

  • Help to build and maintain a comprehensive internal knowledge base.
  • Help to rewrite and maintain platform playbooks and end‑to‑end operational procedures.

Supplier & Resource Management

  • Oversee interactions and coordination with suppliers.

On‑Call & Incident Support

  • Participate in the shared on‑call rota for legacy platforms.
  • Ensure RCA, corrective actions, and post‑incident improvements are captured and implemented.

 

You'll need to have the following skills -

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced operational environment, handling a high degree of ambiguity with ease.
  • Show strong ability to work well within a team, under pressure, while meeting deadlines, and focusing on high quality output.
  • Strong written documentation skills, especially in standards, playbooks, and procedures.
  • Confident communicator able to challenge, influence, and enforce governance.
  • Exhibit a strong customer focus with a commitment to improving customer service.

Demonstrate a data driven mindset, leveraging innovative data analysis.

 

You'll need to have the following experience –

 

  • Good knowledge of broadband platforms, architecture, and tooling.
  • Experience of working with network EMS systems.
  • Experience working with Linux OS.
  • Experience with system health monitoring, platform telemetry, and fault diagnosis.
  • ITIL qualification(s) desirable.
