About this role

The role holder will ensure Openreach develops a robust leadership development plan ensuring we develop the skills and confidence of our leaders to successfully motivate and engage their teams. 

Locations – London or Leeds

You'll have the following responsibilites

  • Lead on the shaping and implementation of a new leadership capability framework and subsequent development pathways
  • Scope, manage, develop and execute the delivery of a variety of  leadership programme, experiences and activities, all of which need to demonstrate high  impact, high value and deliver a measurable shift in leadership capability 
  • Embed the Openreach leadership capability framework driving a clear shift in leadership capability
  • Gather and analyse data to understand the leadership landscape, challenges and shifts required and then translate this into strategy, goals, tangible actions and metrics to address gaps 
  • Create excitement, pull and engagement in new approaches to leadership development that drive retention and engagement of our leadership talent 
  • Influence, collaborate on and activate leadership programmes and strategies locally  - ensuring appropriate support for participants and sustainability of learning in the business. 
  • Uplift skills in leadership development across HR by sharing knowledge and best practise 
  • Use diagnostics and other tools as appropriate to use data to inform and challenge what is needed, when and why to build capability . 
  • Facilitate sessions and coach individuals and teams as required. 
  • Support, influence and collaborate on  the BT-wide approach to leadership development by taking part in group-wide leadership development and strategy activity 
  • Contract with and manage effectively stakeholders and suppliers to ensure purpose, outputs and outcomes of all work is clear and aligned.  
  • Carry out ongoing evaluation and improvement of leadership activity in alignment with rest of the learning, diversity and inclusion, performance, talent and engagement agenda.  Supporting aligned impact and value. 

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Experience  in and passion for  leadership development, preferably working with leaders in a large field / retail operation.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to shape a plan and align programmes of activity to this
  • Strong programme manager able to confidently manage multiple programmes of work running concurrently
  • Strong leadership development  / learning programme design skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, managing stakeholder with multiple important priorities influencing at senior levels, both across BT Group and Openreach; used to consulting with a demanding client base – including HR business partners and senior leaders
