Purpose of role

The Principal Sustain Networks Delivery is a key role within Openreach CTIO, with the role holder supporting the Sustain Networks Tribe Lead in overseeing a multiskilled body of people tasked with developing network and system solutions which underpin a great customer experience though world class operations, enabled to deliver a reliable service on-time, first time and efficiently .

 

The role holder will work closely with CTIO functions, interacting with network vendors, external regulators, other Business Units and BT Networks colleagues as necessary, directly owning key elements of the tribes workstack and driving transformation and first class service in our Networks, products and services.

 

The role will lead delivery across some of the most exciting, enduring and important Network and IT developments,  including driving our SDN adoption, defining future NOC models and ensuring our exchange closure capabilities are ready and honed to support industry commitments and site closures.  These developments will underpin far reaching transformation and benefit, and involve intricate complexity, high levels of ambiguity, and managing many dimensions of stakeholder, including where necessary regulators and customers.  There will also be a requirement to support and improve processes such as MTP definition, Annual Engineering Plan construction, and ongoing Tribe governance and quality management.
 

You will underpin Openreach’s Big Bold Plan ensuring Openreach continues to improve our business capability whilst maintaining the optimal delivery of key programmes.  You will also have strong influences over key industry technical decisions in the VDSL domain and be a technical expert for Openreach in life capacity questions

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading high value, complex projects across multi disciple matrix teams in global locations
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Openreach access networks and products
  • First class stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead and inspire teams from different backgrounds and functions
  • Ability to make priority calls and resolve contention, ensuring that business outcomes are met within time and cost restraints
  • Understanding of datacentre and IT infrastructure and how it relates to network build and control
  • Awareness of global security issues and the role of Openreach in cybersecurity.
